RESERVE FALCIANO LAKE

It protects a hundred of hectares formed by a small lake, its cane-brakes and some cultivated fields in the outskirts. Species of rare birds for Campania make their nest here, as the porciglione,the pendulin titmouse, the tarabusino and several ducks and herons spend the winter. The species that composes the vegetation of the Mount Massico are the typical ones of the mediterranean flora. Common are the myrtle, the privet, the mastic, the corbezzolo, the laurel and the butcher's broom.The arboreal species are the ilex, the manna-ash, the hornbeam, the carob tree, the wild olive, the oak, the roverella, the common maple tree, the robinia, the elder tree, the cypress and several species of mediterranean pine .Between the mammals we remember: the wild boar (very numerous ), the badger (rare), the hedgehog, the common shrew , the mole, the dormouse, the doormouse (rare), the field mouse, and the wild rat. Between the carnivorous animals: the fox, the weasel and the marten. Between the reptiles there are the adder, the lizard and the green lizard. There are more than 90 species of birds between which the buzzard, the tawny kite (very rare ), the kestrel, the screech-owl, the owl.
