OASIS CAMPOLATTARO LAKE

It extends for 1000 hectares and it included an artificial lake to approximately 380 m. on the sea., formed by the obstruction of Tammaro river. In the heart of the Oasis we find the wet forest , the cane brake and swampy areas. All around mixed forests of Turkey oaks and roverelle extend, with presence of several maple trees, manna-ashes, service-trees, hornbeams and ash-trees, environment of medium hill, olive groves and fields cultivated on natural hedges, formed by hawthorn, blackthorn, cap of the priest, privet and elm-tree.The wet forest is constituted mostly by willow trees, poplars and alders, the swampy areas are colonized by the thin pipe of swamp and the tife. In the meadows, between rows of brooms there are various blooms of narcissuses, violets, daisies and several species of orchids. The avifauna is very rich: many birds make their nest here. The mammals we find are the fox, the badger, the polecat, the marten, the weasel, the hare, the doormouse, the dormouse, the hedgehog, the mole, some species of bats (rinolofo , vespertilio). Between the reptiles: cervone, biacco, Aesculapian snake, green lizard, and between the amphibians, toad from the yellow belly and newt.

HOW TO ARRIVE

It's situated in province of Benevento, in the localities of Campolattaro and Morcone.

By car: from Benevento, SS 88 in direction of Campobasso for approximately 20 Km, exit Campolattaro .

Motorway A1, exit S. Vittore, Isernia direction, 88 S.S. Fondovalle Tammaro in Benevento direction, exit Campolattaro. Motorway A14 ,exit Termoli,Campobasso direction, then S. S. 88 Fondovalle Tammaro in Benevento direction, exit Campolattaro.

By train: railway line Naples - Campobasso, station of Campolattaro;

By bus: Bus lines Benevento - Castelpagano, Benevento - S. Croce del Sannio; Campobasso - Naples.
