NATURAL STATE RESERVE TIRONE HIGH VESUVIUS
Before the institution of the National Park, inside the area of Vesuvius a protected area already existed , the Reserve Tirone-High Vesuvius, founded with D.M. in 16/03/1972 and about 1005 hectares wide, to protect the crater. It is characterized by domestic pine and maritime pine with sporadic presences of black pine of Austria, ilex, roverella, cork tree, alder tree, chestnut tree, birch tree. As fauna we find the fox, the marten, the squirrel, the blackbird, the nightingale.A positive fact under the profile of the quality of the arboreal vegetation of the Vesuvius is a slow and capillary diffusion of the ilex tree , that represents the natural evolution of the ecosystems of Vesuvius.
HOW TO ARRIVE
Through the access to the coastal slope of the Park, cross
the highway A3 Naples - Salerno up to the exits of Ercolano or Torre del Greco,
to reach via san Vito or via Vesuvio according to the exit and follow the indications
for the top of the volcano.
For the Road Martone exit to Torre Annunziata and continue in direction Trecase.
To access the slope Sommese is useful to refer to SS 268 that it is attainable
from Naples following the indication for the cities of Vesuvius, from Nola crossing
the SS 166.
It is possible to reach all the localities of the Park by Circumvesuviana (Lines
Naples-Torre Annunziata, Naples-Sorrento, Naples-Poggiomarino-Sarno, Naples-Ottaviano-Sarno).
