NATURAL PARK DIECIMARE

It extends for 444 hectares in a hilly-mountain area, in part covered by forests and in part by mediterranean spot and gariga. It includes the reliefs of Caruso Mount, Forcella della Cava (852 m on the sea), in part of Poggio, Cuculo Mount and Montagnone. The area is characterized by a great diversity of environments, we pass from the gariga to the mixed beech grove, from "gramineti" to the centuries-old chestnut tree, from the Mediterranean wood to the composite submountain forest .The slopes of Caruso Mount are for the greater part covered by evergreen bushes as the myrtle, the cisto, the ilex, the heather and the broom;The slopes and the valleys of Forcella della Cava are instead characterized by a forest of Turkey oak, roverella, alder, maple tree, poplar , beecher tree, chestnut tree, ash tree.The fauna is represented by many species of mammals, as fox, weasel, marten, mole, wild boar, roe buck, mustiolo, oak and doormouse. Avifauna included: travelling hawk, sparrow, kestrel, buzzard, barn owl, common owl, horned owl, owl and screech owl , between the day and night birds of prey. Other interesting species are the imperial crow, sthe green and red woodpecker and the tree-creeper.

HOW TO ARRIVE

It's situated in province of Salerno, in the localities of Cava de' Tirreni , Mercato S. Severino and Baronissi.

By car

From Motorway Salerno-Naples exit to Cava de' Tirreni and follow the indications for the Park or continue for the fraction of S. Lucia- S. Anna. From Caserta-Rome exit to Mercato S. Severino, continues for the center of the fraction of Acquarola - Church of S. Michele.
